Engagement Diamonds

September 25th, 2008

Being in love can be very fascinating, and what better way to show your love
than to propose to your future with an exquisite engagement diamonds ring!
It is usually one of the very special moment between a man and his beloved,
though it could make the man proposing to be a bit nervous during the time of
proposition, but trust me its a worthwhile event.

In most countries of the world, particularly in the western world, engagement
diamonds
ring is a unique symbol of love the man present as a gift to his future
wife just shortly after she accepts his marriage proposal.

Diamond is considered the hardest mineral on earth, it emerged as a crystallized
form of carbon after undergoing extreme pressure and heat over a long period of time.
There are all forms of diamonds, we have the naturally occurring diamond just like
the one I described above and we also have the lab created diamonds, and just in
between this we have the enhanced diamonds. And as you might have known, the
prices of these diamonds vary so much, with the lab created being the least
expensive to the most expensive natural diamond. But for the most part we shall
be focusing on the natural diamond.

Even within the natural diamond categories, we also have different grades of
diamonds determined by what we called the 4C’s, with this grading you can get a
diamond from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. But don’t
let the numbers scare you, a very good engagement diamonds can still be gotten in
the mid four figure prices in dollar amount. It is a general belief that two months
salary is enough to get your future bride a good engagement diamond ring.

So, what is 4C’c, well, 4C’s are Carat, clarity, cut and color.

(1) Carat Weight
Carat refers to the weight of a diamond, and usually measured in milligrams,
therefore 1 carat is equal to 200 milligrams, the majority of engagement diamonds
rings sold in store are more or less 1 carat, this 1 carat can be also divided
into point, there are 100 points in 1 carat.

Finally in summary we have 1 carat = 200 milligrams = 100 points. Its not uncommon
to have diamond stones at 1.2carat, 1.5ct, 1.8ct and so on
If you’re not good at numbers don’t be scared, any reputable diamond jeweler should
be able to explain this to you in great details. Also the diamond carat weight is
quite different from gold karat weight, and we have different weighing scales for
diamond and gold respectively.

(2) Clarity
In simply way, clarity shows the pureness of a diamond, how many amount of flaws
or tiny black impurities you find in diamond stones, the less flawed you have the
more expensive, the more flaws the less expensive, these are ranked by the diamond
grading company, with the most reputable one being (GIA) Gemological Institute of
America, The grading are ranked from F = Flawless, IF = Internally Flawless,
VVS = Very Very Slightly Included, VS = Very Slightly Included, SI = Slightly
Included, and I = Included

I will recommend that you get a competent diamond grader to check your engagement
diamonds before making a purchase, as most diamond sellers out there always guess
about the grading, unless of course they show you the diamond certificate that
accompany the stone during the time of purchase.

(3) Cut
Diamond cut really shows the workmanship of the diamond cutter, its transforming
the stone from rough to brilliance, by showing a good cut, the stone shows how
accurately light reflects to show the brilliance of a diamond, a great diamond
cut obviously will be more expensive and show better brilliance than a bad cut,
also cut comes in different shapes like princess or square cut, marquise cut,
round cut, baguette cut and so on. Preference fo a particular cut is quite
subjective, but brilliance of any of the above mentioned cuts depends on the
workmanship of the diamond cutter, its more of an art rather than science,
but they always strive to get what we call an ideal cut, you also get this from
the diamond appraisal certificate.

(4) Color
This indicates how yellowish the diamond stone is, the best color to strive for
in diamond grading is a “colorless” diamond, the colorless diamond is the most
expensive, and they are graded by the grading company like The Gemological
Institute of America (GIA) among other appraisal grading companies. These companies
have a standard grading starting from D, E, F,G to Z. D being colorless, and
Z being very yellowish in color

This grading has a continuous characteristics, so its hardly noticeable by naked
eye for a stone to transit from E to F, except by these grading companies as shown
in their grading certificates or sometimes jewelers tend to compare stones of the
same color quality to arrive at the color grading, and they also use colorimeter
instrument to determine the color grading.

Choosing an engagement diamonds ring for your partner can be sometime challenging,
but with a careful explorative studies and good honest jeweler, you should get a
best deal for your bucks if you take the 4c we described above into consideration
while looking for an engagement diamond. I wish you best of luck.

Looking 4 reputable Jeweler 4 engagement ring in Northern Virginia, Not over $6000 any recommendations?

November 30th, 2008

Looking to get a princess cut ring from a reputable Jeweler. We're not rich but want a high quality ring for a decent price. Don't want want to go to a Mall Jewelry store and can't afford Tiffany's.

Don't buy a diamond!

first, it is the source of major corruption and killing in Africa!
second, the De-beers company in south Africa has so many diamonds in a warehouse where the hold them to make the price more! If the Russians ever sell the diamonds they have, the market will be flooded and worthless!

Get a other precious stone that will hold value longer like a ruby emerald or Sapphire!

Don't spend so much money on the ring!

It looks nice but you may lose it and you can spend money on a better thing like a house!

What is you're engagement ring like?

November 30th, 2008

We are going engagement ring hunting tomorrow in London tomorrow, I'm VERY excited!

I have my heart set on something antique/vintage style. Everyone I've spoken to seems to be really concerned with diamonds - how big etc. I do like diamonds but I prefer them as an accent stone.

Do many people have sapphire, emerald, ruby or other gemstone engagement rings?

Who cares what other people have. Congratulations, first off, and secondly I like the vintage style you're going for. I think combining a diamond with other precious stones in a vintage setting will be very eye catching and beautiful. Not to mention unique! I'm jealous, lol :-)

Good luck!

Can I ask for a lower price on a diamond engagement ring?

November 30th, 2008

I am looking at a ring from kesslers diamonds but I am not sure of the price. Can I ask for a cheaper price?

This is the ring I want to purchase for my future fiance: http://www.kesslersdiamonds.com/detail.aspx?stockid=195&NPAGE=rings_engagement_with_center.aspx&f=180&l=199&n=324

Also, could you please tell me what you think about it.

Thanks so much!

you can haggle prices on just about anything. Me and my husband NEVER pay retail for jewelry, electronics, cars etc. Just ask you will be surprised how easy it is to get at least 10% off the products you buy. Hen we bought our wedding rings we had our jeweler calling his regional manager to get the deal we got.

Platinum Engagement Rings & Wedding Bands

November 29th, 2008

Surveys show when it comes to engagement rings and wedding bands Platinum is her first choice. Because it’s a pure and naturally white metal, unlike white gold that isn’t truly white, platinum will enhance the sparkle and brilliance of a diamond. Platinum won’t fade or tarnish over time. For the guy who’s making the investment in the diamond – platinum will hold that stone more securely, that’s why the world’s most important diamonds are always set into platinum. Look for your wedding bands at the same time as the engagement ring to see how all three rings work together and buy your wedding bands at least six months before the wedding.

does anyone no how if a princess Dianna and prince Charles photo album is worth.u can c the engagement ring?

November 28th, 2008

it is dated wednesday 29 july 1981,and she does not look happy

A difficult question to understand fully!

The photo album would not be worth anything (I assume this is what you meant to ask?) as there are so very many pictures around.

With regards to her being happy, I feel she might have been, but only until she realised that Camilla Parker-Bowles was around ………….!!

She was a typical example of a Royal brood mare inasmuch as she produced an heir, then a spare, then she was out!

Regards.

What do you think when you see a woman with a 2 carat engagement ring on her hand?

November 28th, 2008

Just wondered. I am a simple woman with simple tastes, not at all high maintenance, never had any diamonds or expensive jewelry in my life. My fiance got me a 2 carat emerald cut solitaire engagement ring. It is gorgeous, and I love it, but I am afraid that people are going to instantly judge me when they see it, and they will think I am some high-maintenance princess or some rich girl. Just wondered what people think when they see someone with a sizable ring. I guess I shouldn't worry about it, but I can't help it, probably because it is still so new. And, just to clarify, I am in NO way complaining about getting such a lovely ring from my loving man. :)
I wouldn't think, because I wouldn't notice. I don't notice any people's jewelry.

If I saw it, I'd think that you were engaged or married.
