What is you're engagement ring like?

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

We are going engagement ring hunting tomorrow in London tomorrow, I'm VERY excited!

I have my heart set on something antique/vintage style. Everyone I've spoken to seems to be really concerned with diamonds - how big etc. I do like diamonds but I prefer them as an accent stone.

Do many people have sapphire, emerald, ruby or other gemstone engagement rings?

Who cares what other people have. Congratulations, first off, and secondly I like the vintage style you're going for. I think combining a diamond with other precious stones in a vintage setting will be very eye catching and beautiful. Not to mention unique! I'm jealous, lol :-)

Good luck!

What do you think when you see a woman with a 2 carat engagement ring on her hand?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Just wondered. I am a simple woman with simple tastes, not at all high maintenance, never had any diamonds or expensive jewelry in my life. My fiance got me a 2 carat emerald cut solitaire engagement ring. It is gorgeous, and I love it, but I am afraid that people are going to instantly judge me when they see it, and they will think I am some high-maintenance princess or some rich girl. Just wondered what people think when they see someone with a sizable ring. I guess I shouldn't worry about it, but I can't help it, probably because it is still so new. And, just to clarify, I am in NO way complaining about getting such a lovely ring from my loving man. :)
I wouldn't think, because I wouldn't notice. I don't notice any people's jewelry.

If I saw it, I'd think that you were engaged or married.

What is the proper carat size for an engagement ring?

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I want to get the largest that I can without looking gawdy or fake. What are your opinions? I am definitely going with emerald radiant cut.
I have big hands and fingers, and I was told that this means that a little larger diamond will look good. What do you think?

1 1/2 carat for you center diamond

Do you like this engagement ring?

Check out this link. It's a Tacori engagement ring. I know there are cheaper rings and tacori is overpriced but I really love the design. My girlfriend has mentioned she prefers me to pick out the ring because she trusts my taste. She feels it is more special that way even though I know a lot of people purchase the ring together. My best friend just got married and his wife got a similar emerald cut ring which my g/f really liked.

The diamond color is G-H? Will that sparkle a lot? The only thing I don't like is the clarity of SI1-SI2 but I read that inclusions should be invisible to the naked eye. I would think Tacori wouldn't use an ugly diamond. I haven't seen the ring in person but it seems to be a reputable website with a 30 day money back guarentee. There is a 1.5carat ring similar but I can't afford 11K. Plus my g/f has small hands so will it look nice with only a 1 carat center stone?

I think it's beautiful. I'm like your girlfriend, when my guy was looking for my ring I wanted him to pick it without my help because I trusted him and because it seems more romantic to me. I think your girlfriend is a lucky girl. I have a small hand and my ring is almost a 1.5 carat ring. Some people make jokes, like "doesn't that weigh you down". I just laugh and go about my day. But to me, and I'm sure to her, it isn't the size of the diamond that matters it's the man who gives it. But I think that the ring you chose is gorgeous. Good Luck and congratulations.

What are your thoughts on non-diamond engagement/wedding rings?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Given the problems with diamonds (unethical sourcing, inhumane conditions in diamond mining, human abuse, etc.), I really don't like the idea of a diamond ring. It just seems unethical to me (no offense if you have one, this is just my personal view.)

What are other options? My concern is that since our culture is so used to associating diamonds with weddings/engagements, that most people would not even recognize a non-diamond ring for what it was (engagement, wedding, etc.)

Heck - I like emeralds better anyway - I love green!

Anybody else feel this way? What would your solutions be?

You can see all sorts of engagement rings, with all sorts of stones :) I told my fiance I wanted an amethyst or opal (he gave me a diamond heirloom ring, but I still love it for it's sentimentality). I gave him a sapphire engagement ring.

If you want diamonds, there are eco-friendly, social-friendly diamonds out there. I personally like colors more. Heck, my dress will be colored!

If you have a ring on that finger, most people will think it as an engagement ring, so I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone who says it has to be a diamond is pretty shallow.

Are you a bodhisattva? Namaste to you :)

Is this too big for a CZ engagement ring?

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I'm not big into diamonds, nor am I concerned about the ring. I recently picked out a CZ ring, but I am wondering– will people know & laugh? I don't care what my friends/family think because they have to love me;)

But we picked out a 2 carat brilliant emerald cut with a white gold band. It should be a high quality stone because it's almost 400$, but will strangers be able to tell? Is it too big for a cz?
I have no idea/interest when it comes to jewelry, so thanks for your help!

You absoultely can not tell a CZ from a diamond by looking at it. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Only a trained jewler with an eye loop can.

opinions about engagement rings…please!!?

My boyfriend and I have been looking at rings and talking about getting married…his mom has a beautiful marquise cut emerald that she gave to him…we are thinking about using the emerald and putting a diamond wrap around it to make it my own…I did research on colored stones/emeralds and emerald means unchanging love and faithful…I have always wanted something unique and I think this would be very unique…what do you think about colored stones??

I think that an engagement should make a statement and it should have special meanings to you and him, so if the colored stones is something that does it for you guys who is to tell you differently, and it sounds like its beautiful anyway.

Where can I find plus size engagement rings online?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I am trying to find a size 11 three-stone emerald-cut diamond engagement ring with a platinum band. I've been trying to find online jewelers that sell engagement rings in that size and have failed to find any so far. Does anyone know of any sites that I can check out?

Give James Allen a call, 877-826-9866 I am sure they would help you.

Engagement ring w/o diamond??

Friday, November 14th, 2008

My boyfriend and I are looking at engagement rings and I would like to have a ring that isn't a diamond. I know swarovski makes jewelry with their crystals, but would a swarovski crystal work as an engagement ring? I have been looking at emerald cut stones and would like some type of clear or clearish stone that would look nice in a white gold setting, and am thinking a swarovski crystal would look really nice as an emerald cut ring. Any other suggestions for stones that would look nice as an engagement ring would be helpful also.

The cubic z is nice………

Now that Lindsay Lohan and Rory Emerald have officially exchanged engagement rings, WHEN IS THE WEDDING?

I think that they will get married at some point in the spring of 2009.
